Short walk along the road to beach by the Outrigger hotel was fabulous for snorkelling - from about 6 feet from beach, and in only 3 feet of water, could see lots of brightly coloured tropical fish - even had 3ft turtles swimming under and around us in 5ft of water - you do need flippers or reef shoes as very rough and rocky underfoot.

2. Although the condos/townhouses of Keauhou offer only a inaccesible rough lava landscape for 'beach', other beaches of Kona are right at hand.
