1. As the TV news in Molokai kept showing the floods and street washouts in Kapaa, I called ahead to see if we needed to change hotels.

9. I liken it to the airlines charging baggage fees - we all hate it, but it's part of the price of traveling unless you really enjoy the inconvienence of shoving your overstuffed bag in the overhead compartment or parking on the street.

The location: The hotel is near a shopping center on Aleka Loop that has nice souvenier shops, a couple of restaurants, a Lappert's Ice Cream (definitely go there!), and a general store, there is a Foodland practically across the street, and a Safeway (the only one on the island, apparently) just a block or so farther, but definitely in walking distance.
