The room size is about middle-of-the-road for
downtown
New York--not large but not horribly cramped.

The location is nicely central between
downtown
and uptown and very handy to the subway at 34th street and the Penn Station/subway on 7th avenue.

The subway is located at Penn Station as well for easy access to
downtown
and South Street Seaport.

The man that stored my luggage did not speak an ounce of English and when I asked him where I can take the nearest Subway
downtown
, he walks me out the hotel and points to me at the Subway sandwich shop to the left of the hotel.
"Rooms not ready, no air cond in the lobby, no bellhop service, never a manager on duty, and sheets smell like genitalia! "

The fact that it was in the middle of Manhattan meant it was easy for us to either go uptown or
downtown
, with ease.

Y ou get the best of both worlds by staying at this hotel: proximity to
downtown
and theatre-land / uptown are both in walking distance.

Our tip for travellers is that midtown is too touristy so head
downtown
to the quaint and interesting districts, or else uptown to Central Park and the museums.

We did a full
downtown
loop first then got off at Ground Zero and walked to Pier 17 beach and shops before returning to the hotel for a 1 hour turnaround for 4 to shower and change for their evening tour which took us to Brooklyn and ended at Times Square.

Madison Square Garden is just down the street, with tons of restaurants and subway access to
downtown
or uptown.
