1. New decor, beds and a general sprucing up along with some management discipline and tweaking of service could easily turn this into the 4-star and up experience that many others in the chain deliver.

7. The Crowne Plaza Mission Valley is a large hotel with many rooms, but its decor is based on a Hawaiian tiki theme that seems like it's out of a 1960's beach movie.
