5. So I assume that the majority of the reviews have been left by people whose rooms were functional, and probably the odds are in favor of that, so it may be worth the risk, particularly because LA hotels are so expensive.

6. Younger people often stay here because it's not expensive, and there is a lot of inconsiderate late-night loud talking and noise on the walkways outside the rooms.

I must say this place is definitely better than I had anticipated, not because I was expecting the worst, but honestly I was impressed by the 1) size of the room 2) investment made in the bathroom (stone top, moderately expensive looking tiles) 3) plasma TV 4) helpfulness of the cleaning staff 5) value for money (~USD100).
