1. The minuses were the size of the room (very small - like 'accidentally hit your shins on the bed as you try to get to the window' small), and noise level in the room.

14. Though the rooms are very small (unless you have Marriott Elite Status and manage to get upgraded), I like that it's not a massive megahotel, unlike the surrounding options within a one block radius.

18. I stayed in Marriott and Embassy suites which are comparable hotels 2 blocks away before, and here is my comparison to these hotels:Worse in Renaissance:* Room i had was a bit of a weird setup, big room with all comfort but only a tiny window to a courtyard that made it quite dark* Gym is a bit small, only few machines, and some of them defective* no poolBetter in Renaissance:* Hotel Bar is very nice with a lot of lounge place and is open at least until midnight, in other hotels in DC it closes at 11 pm* In room dining quality is definitely better* Illy coffee shop on ground floor provides excellent coffee and pastries (for everybody that is not looking for Starbucks)The quality of the bed and room servicing is great.

36. Positives: -- Great location with easy walking to DuPont Circle area and walking distance to Metro-- Safe neighbor hood with several nice restaurants-- Stylish, if somewhat small, lobby where you can sit and have a drink etc -- Rooms are relatively recently renovated so a bit bland in design but not shabby/old etc. Negatives: -- Air conditioning unit is one of the 'through the wall' type that they have tried to cover up with wood work but ours was very loud and kept us awake at night -- Parking is expensive ~30$ per night and the garages right near the hotel mostly do not take overnight cars - so alternative parking is far away -- Breakfast food is so so - but see my tips below to resolve that (just go outside the hotel!)-- During two stays here it is an odd mix of folks, tour groups, families with kids, airline staff, business people etc - so no consistent 'vibe/scene' if that is what you are looking for.

44. As most reviews accurately point out, the rooms are on the small side and there is little extra room to 'spread out,' but when you're in a city - especially on business - you're not always looking for lounge space since you're in and out and on a computer mostly.
