1. The lobby is simply beautiful.
"Fantastic Hotel - Cant understand the bad reviews???? " Read full review on TripAdvisor   7/20/2011 Vote
2. First off, the lobby is dripping with history, with a lot of beautiful woodwork and old paintings, etc. The lady at the check in was pleasant, and got me my room quick.
"Call me crazy, but I liked the joint! " Read full review on TripAdvisor   6/27/2011 Vote
3. Like others have said, this is a 'club' that also has hotel rooms, and the lobby area is gorgeous.
"Rooms 2-star, but hotel is fine. Suprised at poor ratings. " Read full review on TripAdvisor   4/20/2011 Vote
4. service was outstanding and the lobby was beautiful, however the room was a major disappointment.
"very old and dated.room was small and very out of date " Read full review on Expedia   10/14/2009 Vote
5. It would be nice if the hotel offered a continental breakfast, complimentary coffee in the lobby, fridge and microwave in their rooms.
"Pretty, but lacking amenities " Read full review on Expedia   3/11/2009 Vote
6. Was busy and didn't go much elsewhere besides the room and lobby.
"Rooms 2-star, but hotel is fine. Suprised at poor ratings. " Read full review on TripAdvisor   4/20/2011 Vote
7. All of the guests were pleasantly surprised by the main lobby experience - it's a grand ol' dark wood and colored glass affair with very large windows looking out onto The Circle (although the main desk is a cramped affair also handling club health facility registration, minor vending functions, and more).
"A Pleasantly Different Hotel Experience " Read full review on TripAdvisor   3/12/2009 Vote
8. The biggest disappointment was the room - the entire place (room, lobby, etc.) has a pretty musty smell.
"Great location, crummy rooms " Read full review on TripAdvisor   7/6/2010 Vote
9. (A little off-topic: I have to wonder how The Club can continue to collect membership dues for a private club experience that no longer exists?) The building, at 121 Monument Circle, is still enchanting in a sort of crumbly and fussy way; the Grand Lobby and Crystal Terrace are wonderful.
"Sadly, The Columbia Club is selling her soul... to the common public " Read full review on TripAdvisor   3/11/2009 Vote
