1. I think problems like this can be avoided with some attention to detail at the front desk.

2. I was politely trying to get his attention because I could see a taxi had pulled up behind my rental car in the driveway and was going to be parked in, but he fastidiously avoided noticing me while he continued droning on about breakfast hours, etc.

3. Attending a conference in DC, I was keen to avoid the big hotels so, on recommendation from a friend, stayed here.

6. There are many homes and businesses in the area, which makes street parking troublesome, but Hotel Helix does offer valet to avoid this issue.

9. If you don't mind a little extra walking (which, by the way, is hard to avoid in DC), and want to see a more residential side of the city you won't see from the top of a double-decker tour bus, check out Hotel Helix.

10. About the only negative of the whole place is it is a long walk (15-20 min) to the Metro rail stations so keep that in mind if your are trying to avoid taxis.
