1. It is well maintained and does not have the musty smell or creaky floors of an old hotel.

3. There is a McCormick's restaurant off the lobby that specializes in seafood, and the 1st floor area smelled a bit fishy in the morning.

5. It's obviously an 'old school' hotel and I prefer the smell of new paint and freshly cleaned carpet.

7. On the negative side, there is the snootiness of select members of the staff, a wretched cover-up smell of the room (aimed at hiding tobacco remnants), and a general lack of customer service.

9. We checked out after one night due to the following bad experiences: 1) the sofa bed had a mattress with an enclosed spring support system, but when you lay on it, you could feel the wires, 2) after reporting this to the front desk, they replied, 'that is just how they are' and asked if we would like a rollaway; we replied that we would, 3) after waiting 45 minutes, I called the desk again and the person who answered was not aware of the rollaway bed request but would send one right up, 4) the rollaway was rock hard, 5) the shower temperature alternated from freezing to scorching (the pressure was also weak), 6) a rotten egg smell happened when running the shower, 7) the 'French and English antique furniture' looked like it was from Goodwill (see photos), 8) and several minor complaints--the blankets had holes in them, the bathroom floor was dirty, etc.
