1. Best of all, the hosts provided plenty of loaner umbrellas to keep us dry when we ventured out so that we didn't have to go buy them only to leave them behind or schlep them home.

10. You can walk to downtown Hilo and I liked the fact that we weren't surrounded by a ton of other tourists, we got plenty of that in other parts of Hawaii.
