1. There's not a lot of choice on this side of the island, so hotels aren't scrambling to renovate or provide great service -- they have a mostly captive audience.

Having read previous reviews of this hotel we were pleasantly surprised it was better than 21/2 stars it may have been dated but was what i would call Hawaiian chic everywhere we went seemed to have the same style, it was very clean and the service was excellent we went on an excursion with the tour company in the foyer and it was exceptional.
