5. The Topaz made our family of 4 feel at home for 6 wonderful nites--it started when we checked in at 3am due to a flight delay and were greeted warmly by the staff with gold fish for our room--the grandkids were excited even at 3am--the hotel room, queen queen , was designed to provide plenty of space for us and our luggage--the location of the hotel was in a quiet residential area with a view of the St Mathew's Cathedral steeple and a short walk to the Dupont Metro and alot of fine eateries --we particularly enjoyed the evening walks by the many embassies in the area--we enjoyed the Luna Cafe for breakfast and the Kramer Bookstore and Cafe and Bertucci's for dinner--also the Topaz is very accessible to the DC Circulator for inexpensive ($1 each) trips to Georgetown for shopping and dining including the must have Georgetown cupcakes--the staff at the front desk and in the breakfast area were wonderful to all of us throughout our stay--we will always go back to the Topaz while in DC and plan to visit other Kimpton properties in our future travels--it was less even less expensive than the Hampton Inn Convention Center and in a much better location--nice touches included free continental breakfast passes for 2 per day , free $10 honor bar credit for Kimpton In Touch members, free toys for grandkids, free energy drink in the morning and free wine in the evening and of course the goldfish--it was a great trip to DC for our family due in large part to the Topaz and its wonderful staff.
