1. Being that this was a very busy week, I'm willing to overlook things like dirty footprints on the carpets but chipped paint in the room and broken tiles in the shower were unexpected.

This means the room was ready, but the shower was filthy with mud and grime, there was hair all over the place (that didn't belong to me in both the bathroom and my sheets), the faucets were reversed (hot in the cold tap/ cold in the hot tap), the toilet was dirty, the phone was falling apart, the pool just cracked a couple of days prior and would not be fixed during my stay.

This hotel is okay (quiet, close to the university and connected to the Internet), but the carpet in my room was very dirty and most services were quite limited: (i) no room service (and the dinner menu at the bar is poor); (ii) no sofa or coffee table in the room; (iii) no fridge or mini-bar in the room; (iv) no safe in the room; (v) very bad TV reception/remote broken; (vi) no free mouth wash in the bathroom, etc.
