1. The condo was on the first floor and we did have a heavy walker in the condo above us but wouldn't have traded for the fabulous convenience of being able to walk over to the water right from the lanai.

7. While on the island we hiked Kilauea Iki Crater, watched the steam pouring from lava flows at the ocean, drove up to Mauna Kea Peak, kayaked to Captain Cook monument, snorkeled there and down the street, went fishing for Marlin (caught some Ahi, but no Marlin) and enjoyed some fabulous new beaches.

8. Short walk along the road to beach by the Outrigger hotel was fabulous for snorkelling - from about 6 feet from beach, and in only 3 feet of water, could see lots of brightly coloured tropical fish - even had 3ft turtles swimming under and around us in 5ft of water - you do need flippers or reef shoes as very rough and rocky underfoot.

9. No beach outside condos - black lava set about 15 feet above the ocean, but fabulous view and lovely to hear the ocean.
