3. The town of Kihei is basically a strip mall with one good dinner restaurant (Cafe O'Lei) and a few decent places to buy lunch.

Went to the luau at the Wailea Marriott, (perfect), went zip lining (great experience and staff), drove to the haleakala crater (mid morning, did not want to do the drive there in the early morning in the dark, glad we made that choice), visited the Iao Needle park (worth the drive) and even did a quick visit to Lahaina for lunch (Kimos, great food and service, overlooking water).

5. $25 each at various stores) for the wavier afternoons on the beach; send the kids on one surfing lesson (my boys were both on their feet and riding all the way to shore within 10 minutes)- bring or buy swim/sun shirts for the kids to protect them both from the sun and the boogie/surf boards; eat breakfast and lunch in your condo (preferably on the lanai) and go out for dinner- don't bother with the GPS offered by the car rental places (the major roads all pretty much stick to the coast of the island and it's really easy to follow the maps)- go to the aquarium (they have a pretty big tiger shark there that they captured about 14 months ago)- Stay in condo #314.
