1. Even the cheap Howard Johnson Deezerland hotel in North Beach offered a complimentary local newspaper, so why not this expensive hotel.

7. Conceptually, the Art Deco feel wears off, if the faux interiors are not complemented by basic things like a helpful concierge and complimentary coffee in the morning (talk of being penny wise and pound foolish).

My experience with this hotel -- no complimentary coffee/breakfast, soundproofing of the rooms (esp because our room was located near the elevator) was not adequate, the 24-hour concierge desk was not too 'helpful' (at times, no one was avavilable there and I found our bellboy Jon subbing in on the desk), I did not feel too welcome there.
