1. Only down side is the hotel is located on a very busy street that is only quiet for a few hours in after midnight.

A short cab ride to go to 3rd St Promenade, Santa Monica for shopping dinner, movies and to hear tomorrow's stars busking; to go to Santa Monica Pier for carnival rides, arcades, a great ocean view and some great street dancers; or to Abbot Kinney Blvd in Venice for shopping (similar to Brunswick St in Melbourne, for the Aussies reading this).

6. Cute decor, clean, convenient to the beach, reasonable prices for the area, not too noisy (I got a room on the courtyard, rather than above the street), friendly and helpful staff.

8. The location on Washington Blvd in Venice (charming little City -- canals, beach etc.) is excellent with many restaurants and shops within walking distance of the hotel (don't drive around -- WALK!-- parking is valeted for the street AND beach parking is expensive.
