8. So, I booked a back-up reservation at the swanky Hollywood Renaissance Hotel down the street, and was going to eat the two nights of fees for this hotel, if it lived up to the worst of the reviews.

9. Down the street is a convenient corner of shops including a Subway (open 24 hours!), Starbucks and a grocery store featuring a pizza takeaway and a mixture of English products- here we found PG tips which was a godesnd as American tea is tasteless.
