1. For us, the pros of: comfy clean king bed, spectacular views, friendly staff, great location and fairly lowish prices (compared to other hotels on the strip) far outweighed the cons: some rooms being quite dark and dingy, the dated and worn carpets,and the need for a new paint job.

2. The 'Park' tower of the hotel should be avoided if at all possible - clean and tidy but dark, dingy and very cold, since aircon was not controllable.

3. Changing the room changed the holiday, we went from a dingy room to a bright room overlooking the pool and beach and Kalakua Ave (leading to Kapalioni Park) and a glimpse of Diamond Head, albeit only a small view.
