1. Add in good service from the staff at the Magic Castle, the free treats, the decent pool, and you have a great deal for travellers who don't demand high thread-counts and haute design.

3. free snacks and drinks while we checked in (after a long flight), then the shuttle took us to room 504 - huge and with a fantastic view over the Hollywood Hills.

5. You check in at the Magic Castle Hotel at the bottom of the hill (which being ranked 2 of 295 on Tripadvisor should give you a good idea what to expect), and then the free shuttle will take you and your bags up the hill to the Hollywood Hills Hotel.

6. The manager said she was terribly sorry, but they made a rare mistake, and she offered to give me the first night free, plus a discount on the second night, or help me find another hotel if we decided to move.

8. This place is fantastic, the staff are amazing & very good looking (another bonus), the view is spectacular (I was in room 504), free snacks daily and a lovely free continental breakfast daily around the pool.
