1. Add in good service from the staff at the Magic Castle, the free treats, the decent pool, and you have a great deal for travellers who don't demand high thread-counts and haute design.

7. We asked two different staff members for restaurant recommendations and got the exact same list of places from both staff (are they trained to say the same)? They were all pretty touristy, shopping mall type places (nice enough, but you could find them anywhere), and we were after good local non chain restaurants.

8. The only bit of dirt I saw anywhere was on the wooden plank that runs along the bottom of the balcony doors, and I have no doubt if I had reported it, a cleaner would have been there within minutes, the service is that good at this place.

9. You check in at the Magic Castle Hotel at the bottom of the hill (which being ranked 2 of 295 on Tripadvisor should give you a good idea what to expect), and then the free shuttle will take you and your bags up the hill to the Hollywood Hills Hotel.
