1. over the past few years, i have stayed in various good ny hotels including the sofotel (i was there when the international event happened last year with a certain parisian government official), the intercontinental and especially the royalton on the east sidefor my own weekly overnights, i tend to prefer tiny rooms, i am careful about cost and had basically narrowed it down to three hotels.

2. We had breakfast at a diner every morning which costs around $20 dollars for the two of us which the portions were just huge we used a diner called PAX just around the corner, If you use the BUBBA GUMPS seafood resteraunt be prepared for a long wait they keep you downstairs and tell you 40 minute wait then let you upstairs for another 30-40 minute wait but i have to say the food was very good ,From morning to night you can hear honking and sirens.

3. The location is just off Times Square, the cost is reasonable, the rooms and the hotel itself have a lot of character and charm, and we have always received excellent service from the staff.

4. I was initially quoted 30 dollars a night for a queen size room, when I contacted the hotel to make the booking the cost was quoted at 60 dollars for the stay and 80 dollars for a superior king.

5. We found a great breakfast place called Cafeurope (need to google this - it was the better one, possibly the 49th or 50th street from Broadway)- great you can pick what you want, all fresh, and it isn't expensive, for 2 of us it cost around $20 total.

10. There are many other places to stay where you can get a good feel for the real NYC without paying the small fortune that the Paramount costs.
