5. Food will cost a lot and there are not alternatives (unless you have a rental car and to Kihei in the north, a drive of about 10 minutes)- the resort is very nice and luxurious but does not feel very intimate and even feels a little bit outdated- although it is the sunniest part of the island, it is also the least scenic area of Maui TIPS :- become a member of the Fairmont Club before arrival in the hotel : online registration is free and will give you free internet access during your stay- the drive to the top of the Haleakala crater (90 minutes drive from wailea) is a MUST : unbeatable scenery.
