1. Our room was clean and did not have any musty smell.

2. Cons: hotel smelled musty BUT it was an open air hotel (not sure if most hotels in Hawaii are like that?), expensive food, and a bit of a distance from the parking lot.

3. Ask for 2nd to 4th floor as the ground floors can be a bit more humid smelling, and provides a better sense of security.

4. When we checked in, the flat sheet under our duvet was wrinkled, smelled dirty and had a 3 inch blood smear on it.

The first day we got there (during labour day weekend), the hotel was packed with people attending some sort of 'dirt bike' competition, and we were given a crappy room that smelled moldy, smoky and overlooked a dirt parking lot; we complained the next day and they gave us a great room overlooking the ocean.

9. So there was no way we could sit out on their TINY lanai (barely two chairs fit) to relax, unless of course we wanted to smell exhaust, ciggerette smoke and wave at everyone coming and going.
