1. Yet I didn't enjoy as much as a visit a few years back: there was no bedroom door, so lights in both rooms woke up people in the other location; living room phone could not direct dial the front desk- after a call they said should take care of the problem, it still didn't; a new $10/day 'Daily Amenities Charge' for coffee, soap/lotion/shampoo, etc (you can request to not be assessed this DAC); my step-father commented that the fitness center had mostly rusty and non-functional machines; finally I was prepared for no Wifi except in the lobby, but didn't count on almost non-existent broadband coverage from both my phone (Sprint) and tablet (Verizon).

2. $10 per day anebity fee would not be bad except the film I wanted to watch (The Descendents) was never available.

3. There is indeed a coffeemaker in each room, but the coffee for it costs extra (except for the first day) and there is an in-room safe, but the usage of it costs extra.

5. Also, there is alot of live poultry traipsing about on this island, and they are everywhere (the grounds of the Aloha and the beach were no exception), however this seems to be an accepted phenomenon on Kauai.

6. It felt like a Holiday Inn, except in Kauai, about 3 minutes walk to the beach.

8. Seems like everything was being rennovated when we were there - one pool was closed, snack bar closed, tennis courts closed, restaurant closed (except at breakfast), one wing closed etc.
