2. A rehabilitated (with no character) former grande dame hotel of the 1920s in the city center, 3 blocks from the convention center and convenient to some historic (early 20th century) buildings.

4. Parking is a joke, they have a parking garage but if you want to park yourself, it's $15 and 'cash only', the valet conveniently has joined the 21st century and takes credit cards, but that of course, costs more.

6. Normally I would understand the need to keep business inside, but I'd already tried wandering the neighborhood and could barely find a convenience store (with a police patrol and a clerk behind bulletproof glass) let alone somewhere to eat, as the Coney Island across the street was closed for a private function.
"Great effort, if only the city would catch up " Read full review on TripAdvisor   8/2/2011 Vote
7. The valet parking was able to be billed directly to my room, which was very convenient.

8. The Good:*Location - convenient to Comerica Park, other venues, restaurants*Parking - $10 self-park with 24-hour security next to hotel*Security - need room key to take elevator beyond 2nd floor, easy-to-operate safe*Desk with easy-access outlets for device charging*Recycling bin - more hotels should do thisThe Bad:*A single plastic cup in the bathroom in a room booked for two people*1' gap under door to hallway that let light and sound in (some rooms had a piece of marble under door to eliminate gap, but ours did not)*Some noise in the hallway at 1 am, but that goes with the territory on weekends in a cityThe Ugly:*No maid service, no towels.
