1. Had such a great long weekend with some great friends and this W was our baseGroovy cameras in the lifts, close to Venice and Sanat Monica beaches and great outside bar and pool; if you have not been hooked by a W yet, this one will do the trick.

BTW we loved LA, friends had said it is a funny city but by leaving out downtown LA I think it meant we saw LA at its best (although Venice beach leaves a little to be desired - weird walking from fab Santa Monica to there!- also visited Universal Studios, Hollywood, Rodeo Drive, Bel Air, Beverly Hills , LAX.

5. This hotel does have some crazy charges though - wifi, valet parking, room service, etc. We asked for beach towels one day and they put a $50 charge on your card until you return them.
