1. The room was shabby, old stained carpeting, street noise at the 12th floor, the carpet was rarely vacuumed, the bathroom was as big as a normal sized closet.

3. 30 am to report it and asked to be moved the next day the man this time was very rude and just said the whole buiding makes that noise every room is the same pack your bags and leave them with the bell boys before 12 if you must then we ll see if theres another room is everything ekse ok with it i told him no its very shabby n dirty to say the least , went back to the room we could stand it no more so went for a walk my husband then decided we should stay put if all the rooms were the same what was the point .

4. This, sadly, means that the customers with the loudest voices will get preferential treatment and upgrades - if you like to avoid confrontation, you will most likely have to put up with a shabby room.

9. The hotel is clean, but a little shabby, but if you interpret this as part the NYC charm and diversity (as opposed to the sterile perfection of many expensive chain hotels), the paint that's peeling off in places will not be a problem.
